Sound Blessing

God loves us more than we can imagine. Jesus died on the cross so that we might receive His blessings, but sometimes it doesn’t feel real. Maybe we feel detached or like we might be shut off inside, and unable to receive them. Art can help us open ourselves up to God.

When musicians want to express their innermost feelings, they reach for their instruments, let their voices sing out, and make sounds with their bodies. As musicians express what moves them through sound, a painter might reach for brushes, and start tracing an image or splashes of color on canvas.

Why not also pray and bless with sounds, colors of music?

In a Sound Blessing, we invite a person to sit on the chair in front of us, the musicians. We invite the Holy Spirit to guide us, and then we begin to improvise. This gives rise to a musical painting or prayer of sound – a Sound Blessing.

We humbly trust that God can use the music and the images that emerge both for the musicians and the person sitting in the chair.
